Still Unresolved
May 2016
As part of their degree course in Fine Art, students were invited to set up a gallery within the studios and curate a series of short-run exhibitions featuring work by staff and students.
Pepper showed a backlit 35mm slide installation.
What would normally be hidden inside a projector was displayed on the gallery wall – part of an investigation into concepts of framing and where the ‘art’ might reside.
Made up of three 35mm slides originally used in a projected light and hologram installation, they were mounted onto an electroluminescent panel so that they emitted light.
The wiring was exposed to emphasise the lines and shadows it cast, which could be interpreted as a ‘drawn’ mark.
The piece was further developed and shown as part of Documents Alternative #2 at Verge Gallery, University of Sydney, NSW, Australia, in 2018.
