How much information is needed to define a surface and the volume beneath it?
In Vertical Hatch, simple ‘hatched’ lines (a common drawing technique to fill in a shape or represent shading) become small, drawn ‘gaps’ through which we attempt to look at the volume behind.
What results is a kinetic shifting of the drawn marks – an animated drawing suspended in space.
