Nottingham Castle OPEN

Each year, Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery invites artists in the East Midlands to submit work for inclusion in their Open exhibition.
From over 400 submissions, selectors Amy Botfield (Arts Council England) and artists Maeve Rendle and Alan Kane selected 37 artists representing the wide range of creative practice taking place in the region.
Projected (drawn) light intervention onto one of the Victorian radiators in the Castle’s Long Gallery.
Floor-based and visible 35 mm slide projector, high-contrast 35mm litho slide, and Victorian radiator.
Detail showing the edge of the projected light as it ‘folds’ around the structure of the metal radiator and discolours due to the heat of the projector lamp altering the 35 mm slide.
The black, opaque background of the 35 mm slide changes colour (to a reddish tint) during the course of the installation – a measure of time as part of the work.
