Master of Fine Art Exhibition, Department of Fine Art, University of Reading, UK
20 June – 3 July 1980
The conclusion of a two-year MFA course featured 11 graduates working with painting, photography, performance, light, sculpture and installation:
Janet Ayre
Sheena Barnes
Steve Cavill
Terry Cordy
Adrian Davies
Judith Higginbottom
Chris Northall
Andy Pepper
Dave Spooner
Maureen Stockton
Richard Wright
Work by Andrew Pepper included light installations utilising rotating structures (not directly visible), which animated projected light from slide projectors to produce kinetic ‘drawings’ in space.
These installations marked an early stage in the development of Pepper’s Random Cube Rotation, which was also shown at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London, as part of the 1980 New Contemporaries Exhibition, where it was awarded a prize for innovation in the visual arts.
