Projected Light

Coherent Curve 1

Produced during The Summer Lodge, a research residency in the fine art studios at Nottingham Trent University, School of Art and Design, Nottingham, UK.

This series of experimental projections used a one-metre cubic structure to intercept the coherent lines of light from a helium–neon laser scanner.

Here, the scanned light was confined to a circle, which became elongated into a three-dimensional kinetic curve as it passed through the slowly rotating cubic structure.
The structure itself is not visible – only the effect of the scanned light passing through it.
