Light from a 35mm photographic slide containing the \u2018drawing\u2019 of a cube is projected onto a slowly rotating structure in a darkened space.<\/p>\n

Only the effect of the lines of light, reflected and intercepted, can be seen – not the structure itself.<\/p>\n

The result is a constantly moving \u2018volume\u2019 of tiny dots of light which describe the form of a cube.<\/p>\n

Produced during Pepper\u2019s Master of Fine Art degree<\/a> at the University of Reading, UK.<\/p>\n

Shown at the 1980 New Contemporaries<\/a> exhibition, held at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London, where it was a prize winner.<\/p>\n

This work eventually led to experiments with holography and the production of Line Addition<\/span> <\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Larger installations were developed which used up to four slide projectors placed on the floor, projecting upwards across the space.\u2028<\/p>\n

Numerous lengths of white twine were hung in the space. As the projected light passed through the rotating structure, it was intercepted by these individual physical lines, causing the kinetic dots of light to occupy more space in the installation and extend beyond the rotating cubic structure<\/p>\n
